Apex-Brazil is reelected President of the World Association of Investment and Promotion Agencies

WAIPA gathers 244 investment promotion agencies from 162 countries.
 On June 29, during the XV World Investment Conference of Buenos Aires, representatives from more than one-fourth of the  Association Membership basis re-elected Alessandro Teixeira - from the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil) - as President of World Association of Investment and Promotion Agencies (WAIPA). Apex-Brazil's second Term in Office will last another two years starting from August 29, 2010. "This re-election represents an endorserment of our efforts to build on the representativeness - and legitimacy - of WAIPA. With the help of the Buenos Aires elected Steering Committee, Apex-Brazil hopes to solidify the changes implemented within our Association during our previous term", said Alessandro Teixeira - soon after the voting.


WAIPA is a non-governmental organization founded in 1995, which acts as a forum for cooperation and exchange of best practices for the promotion and development of investments. It brings together 244 investment and promotion agencies from 162 countries and has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. Since 2008, Apex-Brazil has been presiding over this institution. "Between late 2008 and 2010 during our first term, WAIPA got the admission of 50 member agencies. Moreover, we held 13 regional events in various locations: throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern and West Europe and the Middle-East. We will continue this work for the organization in order to further raise its profile and, hopefully, ensure its sustainability in the long run", said Teixeira.

During the XV World Investment Conference that took place from June 28 until June 30, 2010, 11 regional directorships of WAIPA were also elected for two years term. Starting on August 29, 2010 the new board of directors is hereunder presented.
